We’re so excited to reveal we are serving as Celebrants supporting families in creating memories for family celebrations across Plymouth and beyond.
It’s LIVE, tonight and we couldn’t be more thrilled to tell you about how we’ve started this adventure together.
We started off as mum friends at the primary school gates whose friendship circle became the highlight of our social calendars. Seven friends all picking up each other’s slack, reminding each other of non-uniform days, bake sales and homework, whilst we juggled work and after school club commitments and then finding time on the weekends and holidays bringing our families together creating memories.
As our children grew, they became more expensive! Hannah had a second part time job as a Registrar and learned how to conduct weddings for the local Register Office. Fast forward April 2022, she surprised everyone (except the bride and groom!) by conducting one of the seven friends’ wedding. It was a real Joey, Monica and Chandler from the sitcom ‘Friends’ moment. It was a best kept secret that would lead to a brilliant idea!

Later at the wedding reception, mesmerised by the surprise (tipsy!) and high on the fumes of romance Hannah and Sadhbh discussed just how much they both love LOVE! How being part of a significant event in a family’s life was probably the most privileged and special ‘job’ anyone can possibly have and how amazing it would be to help people have their dream wedding. Then they both danced and laughed the night away…..
The day after the wedding, with an idea still clanging around in Hannah’s head… she sent a fateful WhatsApp message….
‘OK….A lot of drunk talk last night BUT….I think I need a side kick…Fancy a coffee, a non-alcohol fuelled discussion about a celebrant partnership?’
An agonising two minutes later…
‘Yes!! I love love. If you’re sure, lets meet up about it’
So here we are! the best part of a year planning and preparing and we are ready.
You may be wondering why we chose Kerensa as the name of our partnership. Firstly, whilst Hannah’s name is straight forward, Sadhbh…… well it isn’t, is it? A beautiful Irish name pronounced Sive, means ‘Sweet and lovely’ and this led us to look for other beautiful words that mean ‘Love’. And so we fell upon the Cornish word for it – Kerensa!
As Plymouth sits snugly on the Cornish border, it felt perfect. Both Hannah and Sadhbh have raised their children on Cornish beaches and swimming in the cold Atlantic sea.
Love is celebrated in so many ways, unique to each person, couple and family and celebrated through life’s cycle in the birth of a child, the union of a couple and in remembrance at the end of life. We wanted to be able to help families celebrate love in all its guises and glory. So Kerensa Ceremonies has been established to provide support to families at these times.
All families have a unique tale, the nuances that weave throughout life’s experiences mean that no two stories are ever the same, so why should your ceremony be anything but an absolute reflection of who you are and how you feel. Your story should be told in wonderful technicolour, littered with the personal anecdotes and intimate details that leave you and your guests feeling like they have been seen, heard, and wrapped in Love. Kerensa Ceremonies will create that with you, for both you and your loved ones.

So we need your support to get our name out there. Help us build and grow our partnership, so that we can spend our days talking about how much we still love LOVE!
We appreciate all your support so if you know of someone who is getting married, who is thinking about an alternative to a christening, or if you know of someone who needs a memorial service, please think of us and recommend us.
You can like and follow us on Facebook and Instagram, so that we can reach more families. You can also find out more about us and what we do at www.kerensaceremonies.com.
In the meantime, launching a new business is exciting and frightening, so if you’d like to leave us a supportive message in the comments…. we will be very grateful (and tipsy!).
Much love
Hannah & Sadhbh xx

As I was witness to the very first ceremony carried out by Hannah, (being the Bride’s Mum), I know that this new venture between Hannah & Sadhbh as Kerensa Ceremonies will provide the perfect start for people who are thinking of planning such ceremonies.
